Team Royal Blue
Adam Chase, 42, Boulder, Colo.
Hailing from Boulder, Colo., Adam Chase has a passion for adventure. The 42-year-old tax attorney and sports journalist is an avid outdoor adventure athlete who has competed in countless multi-sport races and triathlons. From rappelling a 600-foot cliff in Norway to hydro-speeding through difficult class IV rapids in the Swiss Alps, Chase believes that a healthy dose of outdoor adventure has taught him what matters most in life. Last year, Chase’s position as editor of Running Times led him to cover ‘Rock & Ice Ultra” in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, Canada. He completed the 55 km snowshoe/run in just less than nine hours in -39 degree temperature, suffering minor frostbite and forever knowing exactly what can be accomplished when he sets his mind over matter. Adam’s commitment to fitness is equaled by his desire to help others, as he spends his time volunteering for the Boulder County AIDS Project, serving as president for the American Trail Running Association, working as an instructor for the Civil Liberties and Race Relations Project, and assisting those in need of pro-bono law advice. Chase describes himself as outgoing, friendly and driven, all skills that he will use during the Land Rover G4 Challenge Nevada Passage.
Caroline Colonna, 44, Taos, N.M.
Veteran adventure race competitor Caroline Colonna, 44, defines adventure as physical, mental and spiritual freedom. However, if asked to describe her biggest adventure, Colonna won’t list her extreme skiing competitions, countless triathlons or even her international Taekwondo competitions. Raised in Paris until the age 16, she describes her decision to come to the United States for school as her most adventurous moment. She didn’t know anyone nor did she know how it would affect her future, likening her move to jumping out of an airplane and having someone else pack your parachute. Colonna now lives in Taos, N.M. where she is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine, practicing Acupuncture and herbal medicine. In the midst of a busy schedule managing her practice and a long resume of community involvement, Colonna still manages to train over fifteen hours a week, including a range of sports like swimming, aerobics, mountain biking and ice skating. Admittedly, she loves competition and can’t wait for the Land Rover G4 Challenge Nevada Passage for the adventure, the fun, the people and the cause.
