Sarah McMahanSarah McMahan, 35, Incline Village, Nev.

Living in beautiful Incline Village, Nev., Sarah McMahan, 35, is surrounded by outdoor sports and adventures that test one’s physical abilities. An avid runner, biker and swimmer, McMahan is also an experienced water kayaker and rock climber. During the winter months she takes advantage of the abundance of winter sports in northern Nevada and enjoys snowshoeing and snowboarding. For McMahan, adventure is not just an activity but an integral part of her life that brings balance to her busy life of work, kids and family. McMahan’s career is in corporate sales, where she works with global companies looking to win more business. A volunteer at a local nursing home and tutor for Hispanic students, McMahan describes herself as an adventurous spirit who is full of energy, friendly and caring. Her daring spirit is evident in the fact that she has conquered class V white water rapids. McMahan says participating in the Land Rover G4 Challenge Nevada Passage competition not only sounds like fun, but would also be a huge accomplishment for her.

Peter HansonPeter Hanson, 42, Minneapolis, Minn.

An avid cross country skier, swimmer, biker and off-road triathlete, Peter Hanson, 42, is no stranger to adventure. The sports medicine physician from Minneapolis, Minn., Hanson has competed in both Ironman and XTERRA World Championships. During his XTERRA career, he has won the North Central Region Championship twice and in 2008 won the XTERRA Winter World Championship in his age division. He describes himself as a focused and driven professional, an athlete and a Midwesterner with an easy-going lifestyle­‑‑always looking for fun and exciting experiences. An avid skier, Hanson serves on the board of a ski foundation which promotes health and fitness and also teaches inner city kids how to ski. Testing his abilities and limits, along with experiencing new situations and surroundings, is this Nevada Passage veteran’s definition of adventure. During last year’s Nevada Passage Adventure competition, Hanson finished third overall.
